Maryland Photography Studio Before and After

I thought I’d share a fun little before and after today! A lot of work goes into creating the final images from each newborn session at our Maryland photography studio.

Bring me all the babies to snuggle!! But I also love the behind the scenes work when I sit at my computer and get to bring my creative vision to life.  Some babies have perfect porcelain skin and some do not.  The hormones, labor process, and overall sensitivity to a new environment make every baby’s skin react differently. Either way is ok and it eventually goes away!  My goal is to create a final image so that your baby looks just as you see them.  I try very hard not to over edit natural skin tones, birth marks, and any areas that would take away from the natural beauty of your baby.

We also take the utmost care with your baby during their newborn session when it comes to safety.  A baby that is one or two weeks old does not have the strength to hold up their own head. Sarah assists at newborn sessions to help with safety and posing so you can relax and enjoy your time at the studio. Editing out a spotter’s hand is part of the work that goes into turing your images into artwork and beautiful memories to look back on and enjoy.

Much love and attention to detail goes into your newborn session with me, from first inquiry through final delivery.

This adorable guy had some pretty bad baby acne when I saw him. Funny thing is, when he came back two weeks later to view his images, his skin was perfect! And this is how I want his parents to remember him 🙂

Newborn baby girl photography session at the Rockville Maryland studio!

This is baby number three for this sweet family and I could not have been more honored to photograph another beautiful baby miracle for them!  I decided to keep this newborn baby girl photography session simple, clean and white. These are my absolute favorites and we have been doing a lot of white color tones at the studio lately.  The focus is always all about the baby and the colors do not distract from other pieces in the home when displayed.  I always enjoy working with props and cute accessories, but they are not always needed to create beautiful newborn portraits. I have so many images of this newborn baby girl that I love! Below are a few of my favorites. I can’t wait to watch this little one grow and be so adored by her family and older siblings! xo

Maryland Outdoor Family Photography Sessions – Spring Sessions recap!

Forget the August heat right now and enjoy some images from our outdoor Maryland family photography sessions earlier this Spring!  I had such a great crew of families to photograph. Many of my clients choose to book outdoor sessions once their child has reached toddlerhood and beyond. It’s a great opportunity to capture images in a natural environment with some open space to run (and for me to chase them!).  Outdoor sessions offer a wonderful way to photograph a variety of posed and candid portraits. I really enjoyed seeing many familiar faces and the children whom I have been photographing over the past 7 years. Plus, I got to meet a few cool new families too. We met at various beautiful locations in the Bethesda and Rockville area throughout the Spring season.

Typically I skip the hot and humid Maryland Summer months and wait for Fall to offer outdoor family sessions again. Fall is an ideal time if you are considering having your family photographed or want ‘wow’ images for your home or holiday cards. These Fall sessions are very popular and usually book up quickly. The announcement for outdoor Fall session dates will be later this summer. Keep an eye out and sign up on the Fall Family Session list {{ HERE }} to make sure you receive an email when our dates are finalized and bookings are open!

It was impossible to choose. But I rounded up a few images to share from Spring 2017 outdoor family sessions. Enjoy!family photography sessions

Baltimore baby photographer newborn session for baby Ben

This adorable Baltimore baby boy visited our Rockville studio for his newborn session. We absolutely loved photographing him and meeting his family! He was so sleepy and enjoyed being curled up for his first portrait session. His mom brought a beautiful handmade blue baby blanket which we gladly incorporated into a few sentimental images. We know those will be favorites for years to come! We especially love the images of him in the basket because you can see how small he is. He won’t be fitting in there for much longer! Mom and Dad chose a gorgeous 24×24 portrait of their new family in one of our most popular charcoal frames. Scroll down to see a few favorites of this sweet Baltimore baby and some of the artwork that they will enjoy in their home!

Behind the Scenes: Hanging a Gallery Wall of Framed Portraits

Clients often come into the Maryland photography studio with a vision of how they would like to display their favorite images in their home. And others don’t have any idea of how they’d like to display their images, and that’s ok!  Design is part of our process. Some don’t have a lot of wall space and prefer prints and albums to look through, some want a statement piece to admire in the nursery, and others envision a gallery wall of framed portraits lining the hall.  No matter what works best for you and your family, it is my job to help you figure it out and make it happen!

Using my camera, I make sure to capture beautiful images of the special times in your life. But beyond that, it is my goal for each family that I photograph to truly love their portraits and take home a piece of art to display and enjoy daily. As I busy mom of little children I can relate to the ‘craziness and chaos’ of life.  Time is limited and those images you said you would get around to printing are still waiting, years later. That is why I make it a priority to work with each client to deliver a finished product for you and your children to enjoy right away. And if you order a gallery of frames, we will even hang it for you!

My personal favorite photographs of my children are the ones that I have printed and get to look at every day. Nothing beats actually holding, touching and looking at a printed image.

Want to see what I’m talking about?  Here are some behind the scenes images of a recent gallery wall that we created and installed for a client. We did the portrait taking and design but left the artwork hanging to the expert Meredith Forte, of Frame Avenue Design, for a smooth and easy installation.

This gallery wall of images is framed in a white natural barn wood. Their family of four is proudly displayed on the stairway, bringing memories and joy each and every time it is walked by.
