Now Booking 2018 Maryland Outdoor Family Photography Sessions and What To Wear!

Our Spring family session calendar is open for booking! Outdoor sessions are a beautiful option for maternity portraits, updated baby and child milestones, Easter, Mother's and Father's day gifts... or just because you have't had professional portraits taken in a while and it's about time! We are looking forward to the greenery and flowers as the beautiful outdoor backdrop.

I always get asked “what should we wear?” for family photography sessions. It seems daunting to coordinate outfits for your entire family. But we have some suggestions to help! Take a look at some of our spring wardrobe tips and ideas below. You can use these to think about how to style your own family.

If you have any questions, want to send pictures for advise, or need some extra help planning your outfits for your session – please contact the studio! We are happy to help.

Top Tips for What to Wear for Maryland Family Photography Sessions this Spring:

  1. Start with one outfit that you really like. Maybe Mom has a killer pair of shoes and dress she wants to wear.  Go with it! From there, build around it so colors coordinate but don’t match exactly.
  2. Add a pop of color. Some of our favorite accent colors for the spring are light blue, pink, olive and navy blue. Pair the color with neutrals to tie it all together.
  3. Stay away from wearing a lot of green when having photos taken in grassy or wooded areas. Avoid fluorescent colors or logos on clothing that will age a portrait.
  4. Layer! Layers add dimension and depth. Don’t be afraid of texture or mixing patterns. If it’s chilly, bring a sweater. Or maybe layer on a necklace overtop a dress.
  5. Be careful wearing white. If you have fair skin or blonde hair, white tends to wash out skin tones. White is fine as an accent color.
  6. Dress your kids in clothes that fit perfectly, not with room to grow.
  7. Add accessories. A hat, vest, or suspenders for boys are adorable. If your girl likes to dress up, find a headband, bow or hat that she might not normally wear so a few pictures are extra special.  Mom can have fun with accessories too!
  8. Don’t forget about nice shoes for everyone!

Remember, have fun with it! You want your family’s personality to shine through.

Maryland Sitting Session Photographer | Six-Month Milestone Session

This cutie was as precious as can be! I adore this little girl and her mom so much. They are definitely a favorite to have in the studio. As a mom of two, I know what it’s like to want to cherish every moment. I know how important it can be to want to remember every single milestone. Whether it be the newborn snuggles, the 6 month giggles, or the 1 year cake smash, it is all so valuable to all of us moms out there. Let’s face it - the time goes by so fast! I know how precious each moment is, and that’s why I love being able to provide a service that allows families to cherish their little one’s moments for life!

Mommy and Me Memories

This session was a six month sitting milestone session for one of my year long Watch Me Grow package babies. The Watch Me Grow package allows us to document a baby throughout their first year. Newborn, sitting, and cake smash/birthday sessions are included! I love this package, because it allows me to see how much my little clients grow and learn throughout their first year of life. It is so fun to see the many changes they go through in such a short amount of time! There is nothing sweeter than getting to know your clients on such a personal level.

For this session, baby H was smiley and happy the whole time! She had the most expressive facial expressions, which were so easy to capture. There was not a single photo that didn’t make me smile over her sweetness. Mom got in some photos too, and the two of them were so cute together. They are both stunning! I could have shared the whole gallery, as I have so many favorites. We had fun styling the session with bows and flower crowns. The flower crowns were so dainty and beautiful, totally matching the personality of this baby girl!

Maryland Fine Art Photographer | Displaying your Images

After a session has wrapped up, you may think the hard part is over. But the fun has just begun! About one week after your session, we will meet again, at the studio, for an exciting reveal of your images for the first time. This is everyone’s favorite part! One of the benefits that our studio offers is a design consultation to help our clients decide how best to display their images. We take the time to sit down with you, based on your style and needs, to select favorites and provide design advice.

Deciding what to do with all of your gorgeous images is important. We know how busy life gets, time passes, and those images become a forgotten task on our growing 'to do' list.  Making sure that we are completing the process with you and creating beautiful images of your family to love and enjoy now and in the future is our goal.

Be at Ease with a Visual Representation

The unique software we use takes the guesswork out of the process so you can easily envision your final images in your home.  Our software can quickly put clients at ease about their choices. We encourage our clients to send us photos of their walls so we can show their favorite images up on the walls of their own home! We can even show different layouts and sizing options to find what works best.

Having a visual representation is a great opportunity to make an educated decision. This is a fabulous feature for those who adore their images and want to display them, but aren’t sure how to execute vision. We offer guidance and give options to make displaying your images an easy process.

We want our clients to have the best experience possible from start to finish!  This unique feature is just another way we hope our clients see how we go above and beyond in creating memories and moments that they can keep and share forever.

A Personalized Approach

Below are a few of our favorite display arrangements from clients over the years. Hopefully this will inspire you to create something beautiful out of your families memories!

A simple grid is the easiest way to fill a wall and create a strong, modern focal point.

2. Horizontal and Vertical

Two or more frames in row makes a graphic statement. Using all color or all black and white gives it a unified look.

4. Eclectic

Mix styles for a unique look that works in large or small spaces. Frames can be all the same or different as long as it looks deliberate, not messy. This is one of our most popular options because you can easily keep adding to this arrangement over the years.

Together with the client we used our software to select images and frames and create a visual rendering of the start of their lifelong gallery wall!   You can see a very realistic layout of the wall in the design process to the left!

5. Staircase

This arrangement sees a lot of traffic! Start with one frame at eye level and build outward.

6. One Bold Statement

Find one spot to display a showstopper! Sometimes all you need is one piece of artwork on your blank wall!  This is especially true if you prefer an uncluttered look.

Through our full-service approach, in the end you will have images that you absolutely love PLUS gorgeous artwork created just for you, ready to display and enjoy daily!

Happy Valentines Day from Danielle Sara Photography!

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I decided it was time to put in a little effort, sweat, and tears to get my own children in front of the camera for this occasion.  It's not often that I bring them into the studio. In fact, I think the last time, was exactly a year ago! I have made a career of loving to take portraits of other people's children, mine tend to get neglected.

But I love a spontaneous themed photo session every now and then!  So this was the perfect opportunity. A little frustration and lots of sweets and I'm happy that I finally got them in front of my camera to capture them both at this stage they are in.  These are my very own sticky candy covered Valentines...

Thanks to Sarah from Pooch Portrait Studio for letting me use her kissing booth!

Winter Wonderland Cake Smash Session

I had the best time over the past year getting to know this sweetheart and her family. From her mama's belly all the way through her first year, it was a honor to capture her milestones. She was precious with every session.  And coincidentally, her cake smash session was the same date as her newborn session a year prior - how's that for documenting growth exactly one year later!

We ended the year with a fabulous themed winter wonderland cake smash for this January baby.  She was not shy at all and loved getting messy. Just look at how much fun she had!

I love the way her set turned out. We celebrated in style, decorating her smash in a simple yet magical backdrop of winter elements, lights, and snow.  Her absolutely gorgeous outfit coordinated perfectly for the decor and brought the entire photo shoot together.  I had a lot of fun creating this set up and putting together all of the elements.

Getting to get to know clients over the years is one of my favorite parts of being a professional baby photographer. If you are interested in our Watch Me Grow package, please contact the studio. We would love to create a legacy of your baby in simple, modern and memorable style. .
