A Newborn Session for the DC Mom's Blog Family

This was a special newborn session for the DC Area Moms Blog founder Courtney Whittington and her family. This talented mother of four owns the DC Area Moms Blog, and I couldn’t wait to hear her motivational story and get to know her a little more during her time in the studio. I love connecting and learning about all the families that come through my studio doors.

We had one of our traditional in-studio newborn sessions for their newest baby, Antoinette. Courtney's husband and other three little ones were all included in the session, and they were all such a joy to work with. The siblings lit up my studio with bright eyes and big smiles. Needless to say, we got lots of fun sibling shots! They all had a fun time exploring the studio, hanging out, and watching me photograph their new baby sister..

Baby Antoinette, the youngest of four, has already adopted a go-with-the-flow attitude. While everyone did their thing, changed poses, and mixed it up, she slept in Mom and Dad’s arms. As we transitioned her from one sweet photo to the next, she just snuggled in and put on her best sleepy smile, as happy as could be. And when she did wake up with eyes wide open, she looked right at the camera as if to say ‘HI, I’m here!’.

In a big family like this, capturing their special bonds with each other is so much fun. We did a mix of the posed portraits and the sweeter candid in between moments when they’re making each other laugh or a giving a warm cuddle. I love capturing details and moments when they don’t realize that I’m clicking away.

It was such a pleasure photographing Courtney, her gorgeous baby girl, and meeting her lovely family. Her blog is a wonderful resource for moms who need information on family activities and events in the area. As a business owner and mom of four, she has her hands full, but still manages to a stellar job of bringing together our community of local Moms in the area! Go check out her blog (and look for me in the Favorite Photographer’s Guide)!

Here are just a few favorites from her session … enjoy!
