As a small business, I love supporting, recognizing, and connecting with other female entrepreneurs out there in the community. And as a mompreneur myself, I know how hard they work for themselves, their families, and their clients. They are each vital influencers of people all around you. I’d like to give some recognition to a few ladies who work hard every day, in the hopes of making a connection to someone that needs their services. We appreciate you more than you know, and we’re so proud to feature your business. We will be highlighting one business per month for the entire year of 2019!

Introducing the ninth interview in our Maryland women-owned businesses series……

1. What is the name of your company, and what product or service do you provide?

Little Sprout Speech, LLC was rebranded to Little Sprout Therapy & Metro Myo in 2018. We travel to clients to provide pediatric speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, feeding therapy and orofacial myofunctional therapy (the later for pediatrics and adults). We also provide oral habit (e.g., thumb sucking/nail biting, etc) elimination programs.

2. What made you choose this type of business, and/or how did you get your idea or concept for the business?

I have always been business minded and wanted to work for myself. I combined my love for business with my love for working with picky eaters and children who were speech and language delayed and Little Sprout Speech was born in June 2014. I knew by going into private practice, I could make my schedule and actively raise my children. I knew I could bring on colleagues to work with me in order to continue to maintain my “why” behind starting a private practice and 4.5 years later we are a team of 20 therapists and constantly growing to meet the needs of our clients!

3. If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Focus on being the best version of YOU that you can be. People do business with people they like and trust. Being genuine and staying true to yourself will get you much further in life and business.

4. What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?

My family and my clients. I was born to be a mom and a business owner. I am lucky to have a husband who supports my decision to be a working business-owning mom and one of these days I would love to retire my husband from his fancy attorney job ;) When it comes to my kids, I love nothing more than taking a moment to stand back and admire how much they are constantly changing and growing, you should hear some of the things my 3.5 year old says!! On a business front, helping clients enjoy eating, speaking and watching them develop more confidence as they experience success keeps me motivated to keep treating on top of running the daily business operations.
