Maryland Women-Owned Business series - January

As a small business, I love supporting, recognizing, and connecting with other female entrepreneurs out there in the community. And as a mompreneur myself, I know how hard they work for themselves, their families, and their clients. They are each vital influencers of people all around you. I’d like to give some recognition to a few ladies who work hard every day, in the hopes of making a connection to someone that needs their services. We appreciate you more than you know, and we’re so proud to feature your business. We will be highlighting one business per month for the entire year of 2019!

First up, a long time friend and client, who recently started her business, Snooze Fest by Jayne Havens. Sleep is the number one topic discussed at all of my newborn sessions. How much is baby sleeping? Who is sleeping? Who is not sleeping? Where is everyone sleeping? and so on…. the topic can go on and on! Because as new parents, overwhelmed by exhaustion, Mom & Dad just want some shut eye!

Jayne found herself reading everything she could find in order to get her own son to sleep through the night. She applied what she learned to both of her children, implementing good sleep habits very early on. Friends quickly took notice of the fact that Jayne’s kids were both fabulous sleepers, and they began coming to her for help with their own kids’ sleep challenges (myself included!). This fellow Mom knows her sleep stuff! She’s turned her passion about children’s sleep into a business to help others.

Introducing the first feature in our Maryland women-owned business blog series—-

1. What is the name of your company?

The name of my company is Snooze Fest. I am a certified sleep consultant specializing in infant and toddler sleep. I work with moms (and dads!) to get their babies and toddlers sleeping better. Some parents come to me when their babies are waking every hour at night, and others need help keeping their 3 year old from getting out of bed 100 times at bedtime. I love helping families achieve better sleep!

2. What made you choose this type of business, and/or how did you get your idea or concept for the business?

I chose to become a sleep consultant because I was always the one everyone came to when their kids were struggling with sleep. My own two kids were fantastic sleepers from a young age, which took a lot of work on my part! After years and years of informally coaching friends through sleep issues, I decided to start my own business.

3. In a nutshell, what is your core mission and what are your values?

My core mission is really to help parents in a way that is comfortable for them. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to sleep. Every time I take on a new client, I start from scratch to really come up with a plan that will work for both the parents and the child. The end result is a happy parent, and a sleeping child!

4. If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

My one piece of advice for someone just starting their own business would be to do something that you love. When you enjoy your work, it makes it easy to get up every day and hustle. Every time I take on a new client I get that same excited feeling as I did when my first client signed on. I love taking my clients from the depths of exhaustion to a full night’s sleep, often in less than two weeks time!

9. What is your favorite quote?

“The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams” - Oprah Winfrey (I LOVE Oprah!!)
